In My Neighborhood

July 18, 2009

I decided to take a little trip around my neighborhood today. I had intended to take pics of the sunset, but hubster had left the camera on all night and I had to do a little recharge job. By the time I had enough charge to shoot, the sun was behind the houses. I took a short walk to the drainage area at the end of our street.

My first encounter was with a cocoon. I love the bokeh on this one.

A little further down is a field. This is where I wanted to catch the sunset. Instead I caught some webs.

While I was shooting, I noticed a visitor approaching. Or rather I was a visitor and she was investigating. Maybe she just wanted to be my new America’s Next Top Moo-del.

On this one I love how the quickly fading sunlight looked like OCF. No, I didn’t rock it. Mother Nature rocked it!

Comments are welcome! Be sure to take a trip around your own neighborhood and see what’s out there.

Everyone needs to meet Pippi. She’s a sweetie who is shy at first, but then she realizes you have a camera and is all about being the center of attention. She just likes to see what you have first, and then she’ll go and act natural. Oh…and BOY can she be loud.

Deb washing Dinero.

Here’s one more of the Outlaw girls from the first night.

Another one of their horses.

More from the rodeo!

The Outlaw girls with their USA colors on! Awesome show, ladies!

Some wrastlin’!

More pictures to come later. I promise. Feel free to leave a comment!!! Hope everyone had a great 4th and a good weekend.

4th of July

July 4, 2009

We went to the parade this morning (pictures from that later). The kids got a slew of candy. Glad Miss E will be staying with her Paw-Paw this week. :-)

Last night was the rodeo. Of course I won’t leave you without pictures from that. But first here are some pictures of the drill team practicing before the show out at the ranch.

Now some from the rodeo.

We’re going back tonight, so I’ll see what new pictures I can get. The head of the drill team was washing her horse earlier and told us that if we found her at the end of their drill tonight she would walk the girls around on her horse. She’s one of the nicest people. The whole drill team is just a nice group of girls. If you ever get the chance, go meet and watch the Outlaw girls!

Once in a lifetime…

We made it to Leakey this weekend. I’m sure I’ll have more pictures later. There are horses out here now, and more coming in every minute. The rodeo is tonight and the drill team is practicing here in about 30 more minutes (pictures of that later, more than likely). I decided while waiting for the festivities to begin to go out and take some pictures of flowers, butterflies and other naturistic things. I was taking shots of butterflies and went back into the house. I scanned through the pictures in the camera and couldn’t believe what I saw. I actually had to download it to the computer to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. Here is what I saw:

The hummingbird decided to just fly right on by during the shot. I didn’t even notice that he had flown by. Fast little buggers.
