Weekend adventures

March 28, 2010

I did have a shoot scheduled this weekend, but it was rescheduled to next weekend. So….this weekend was full of photo opportunities at home. This was the weekend that Munchkin and the Hubster were going to paint her room. There were stipulations. First, it was part of her early birthday present. Second, she had to stay on Green at school (those of you within GISD know what I mean). Thirdly, she had to help. I don’t know if you’ve ever painted with an almost 7 year old. It’s quite an adventure. I added the stipulation that neither of them could paint another human being or canine. Let’s just say that Munchkin ended up with paint miraculously in places that her Dad just didn’t know how it got there (insert innocent face here). Code also ended up with a pink chin (he delved into the trash can when no one else was looking so that would be his guilty face).

During the week, she and Dad trekked to the Home Depot for a color selection field trip. They headed on over to the Disney paints and she selected “Happily Ever After”. They went back Friday after school and picked up the supplies. She suited up in some non-frequently worn clothes. They dipped their rollers and set out to cover the green walls.

She worked, and worked….and worked. (I promised Hubster no pictures of him, but you can see his black-socked toe behind her below. OOOOOpsie. My bad!)

When she was done, she enjoyed all her early presents (the freshly painted room, her loft bed, and her paw-paw surprised her with a TV). Almost her entire room is new except for toys we moved back in.

This was just the beginning of the weekend. We did more, maybe there’ll be more pictures. Who knows. You’ll have to stay tuned. -   -   -   -   -   -   -   -   -   -

OK. The wait is over. Munchkin and I went on a little hike in the neighborhood. She liked the small stream running down to the river about 20 yards away and down a cliff.

I found a patch of bluebonnets (the same patch I took munchkin’s pictures at before). I found an albino one!

Busy Weekend

March 23, 2010

This past weekend was busy. It started out with me planning on shooting on Saturday, but Mr. Weather had other plans. During the week we had nice calm 70 degree-ish days. Sun shining. Birds singing. Lalalalala. Then Saturday. Oh Saturday. Thunderstorm lasting until early morning and then drippy until about mid-morning. But the cold lasted all day. So I contacted Justin and we rescheduled for Sunday morning. Sunday morning was just as cold, but not rainy. To my sadness, the afternoon turned out purty. But I think we did well despite the cold.

Those of you who follow the blog will recognize this young man. He is the winner of our Fresh Faces contest - Teen Division. Congratulations, again, Justin! He has also agreed to be my Senior Superstar! I’m willing to take on a couple more Superstars, so if you are one or know of anyone, please submit a request here.

We headed out to the trail at Overlook Park at Lake Georgetown. The trails were new to me, and quite an adventure. This picture was the first frame from the camera. It only went uphill from here. Hope you love the sneak peek! I’ll have more edited later this week.

This past weekend we spent out at the ranch. When we came home on Sunday, I had a wonderful session scheduled. Soon it will be Miss A’s first birthday. That’s a big step for a little girl. Turning 1 and all. Think of everything she’s had to learn in a year.

Of course with this being one of the very first excruciatingly beautiful weekends since the blizzard (I’ll have to remember to post some pictures of our snowman that’s larger than a foot tall), everyone hit the park in hordes. We managed to snag a swing to snap some shots as Miss A LOVES to swing. She was all smiles and giggles. She’s very inquisitive and liked to watch the kids around her.

We then went for a wardrobe change and headed over to the adjacent baseball fields. The people who were using the field for practice were absolutely accommodating. They let us sneak onto the field in front of home plate for about 10 minutes and even loaned us a bat and ball to use as props. Yes, Dad, we did get some great shots for the Cubs room at home.

The final portion of our shoot was down to the river for duck feeding pictures. Unfortunately, due to the throngs of people, the ducks seemed to have already filled their bellies and were not much into the bag of bread.  Only 3 of our web-footed friends ventured close, but not up on land.

Before it was time to go, we snapped a few of the whole family and then trucked back to the cars. All in all it was a fun shoot and we got some great photos. Oh yea…..you guys want a peek doncha. Well…..

The end of a season

March 12, 2010

Well, I’m in the process of working out the schedule for shoots this weekend. We’re going out to the ranch, so Saturday is definitely out of the question. I’m also booking next weekend, but Saturday looks like a rainfest (60% chance). Sunday has 10%, but I wish the weekends would stay nice. Especially since everything is starting to bloom and turn green. Keep those inquiries coming in about sessions.

I’m going to leave you today with a picture to honor the passing of the season. I do have some of winter snow, but here’s one for Fall.

A clean kid

March 9, 2010

So my kid loves to take a shower. Has since she was about 3. But recently she’s gotten on a bath kick because of her fairy color tablet bath wand. Baths are privileges now because the the fun that goes into them. She’s so wiggly in the tub that it’s difficult to get a good picture. This is one of the very few times that she stopped moving.

On a side note, I have a few inquiries for the coming months for photos. Hopefully the weather will be on our side and we’ll get awesome shots. Those who participated in our Fresh Faces contest have only a few more weeks to schedule their sessions! Also, remember we have our Spring Special running now, so book your session and tell your friends.

March 6, 2010

Trying out a CoffeeShop Action. Trying to get a new look for the photos on my site. I kinda like the rounded corners. Any feedback???
